Become a Sax Bandits Band Leader
Our band leaders are talented musicians (not always saxophonists) who often have a background in teaching and performing music. Our band sessions run on Sundays to enable musicians to go about their usual teaching, gigging, and music-making commitments. We provide band leaders with in-person training and on-going support to ensure they have the multiple skills needed to confidently lead our band sessions.
What is it like to be a band leader?
1x Sunday each month, consisting of 2x 2.5 hour band sessions.
We are seeking passionate band leaders to lead our energetic band sessions. The role of the band leader is similar to that of a choral master, cueing members of the band and gesturing the energy of the music; therefore no previous conducting experience is necessary. Good people skills and the ability to communicate music terminology and ideas as simple ideas is essential. Must be able to read scores and understand difficult rhythms. Playing the saxophone is essential but you do not need to be a professional player, just a good teacher!
